Cooder is almost out of his depth here, seeking to match his slide style to the uniquely complex tonalities of Indian classical music. Bhatt (Mohan Vina, das indische Pendant) mit Sukhwinder Singh Namdhari (Tablas) und Joachim Cooder (Dumbek, indische Trommel), eine der gelungensten East-Meets-West-Kollaborationen, gibt es wieder regulär auf dem deutschen Markt (war eine geraume Zeit nur als relativ teurer US-Direkt-Import zu haben). "I accidently bought this album thinking it was the Ali Farka Toure collaboration, which I had heard before and loved. This one was a little bit of a let-down. There are only four songs, and only one of them could I really distinguish from the others, Ganges Delta Blues. The album is a little short in play time, and a little short on imagination. Ry is a master of understatement with the guitar, and his playing just can't be heard or affect in any way Bhatt's music. It's a "Meeting by the River" alright, but these two fellas jumped in together for a swim and I'm afraid poor Ry drowned. " (kunde bei amazon.com)
