Hallo,

@Ben-99:

Was danach kommt? Keine Ahnung. Vielleicht bezahlter Webspace?

MYPLAY.COM LAUNCHES TODAY

NEW ONLINE SERVICE MAKES DOWNLOADING DIGITAL MUSIC EASY FOR EVERYONE

Sign Up for Free Virtual Locker
Get Bonus Tracks From Artists Including Kid Rock, Chris Rock, Buckcherry
Easy Access to Your Music Collection for Download to Portable Music Players

REDWOOD CITY, CA, October 13, 1999 - Starting today, myplay.com will give consumers a better and easier way to acquire, store, and manage their MP3 and other digital music files. Myplay is the first online digital music service to provide consumers with a virtual locker that allows them access to their music collections from any computer, anywhere in the world. Like Hotmail and AOL's My Calendar, myplay uses the Internet to free the music lover from the problems of being tied to a single laptop or desktop machine, and from overloading their hard drive with music files.

Myplay also takes the difficulty out of downloading music with a unique feature, the myplay DropBox, which allows customers to move music from any Internet site to their locker with a single click. After signing up for their free locker, members can create playlists, share the music they're listening to with friends, and discover new music through a partnership with Listen.com, the music download directory. Other partnerships with respected music sites like Tunes.com and EMusic.com will make filling your locker as easy as clicking on an "add to myplay locker" button. Myplay launches at www.myplay.com with dozens of free tracks available from top artists like Kid Rock; Atomic Pop's Public Enemy; Dreamworks Records' Chris Rock and Buckcherry; independent artist Aimee Mann; and more artists from all musical genres.

"While other online music sites are focused on retailing and distribution of digital downloads," says CEO and Founder Doug Camplejohn, "our mission is to provide a better digital music experience for the consumer." Adds Founder and Senior V.P. of Business Development David Pakman, "Music fans have always expected music to be portable and easily accessible. Myplay was created as an online service so that fans can access their music collection from anywhere they happen to be."

The myplay service also allows users to move playlists or single tracks from their locker to Rioport-compatible players (such as S3's Rio 500) with one click - no complicated desktop software is required.

As Easy As Pressing "Play"

Downloading digital music has become one of the most popular activities on the Internet. Forrester Research projects that by 2003 digital music will add 1.1 billion dollars to the U.S. music industry. In fact, "MP3," the most prevalent and easy-to-use digital music file format, surpassed "sex" as the most-searched term on the Internet several months ago. But for the music fan that's not computer-savvy, the experience can still be problematic.

For newcomers to digital downloading, myplay makes the process almost as easy as loading a CD and pressing "play." Upon signing up for the free myplay service at www.myplay.com, you are given a digital storage locker with 250MB of space on the Web (the equivalent of 60-70 CD quality songs). You can then search for new music on the Internet starting from the Listen.com directory and simply click and drag a file url into your locker using the myplay DropBox; or "rip" music from your own CD collections for storage in your locker. To further serve its members, myplay keeps you up-to-date on your favorite artists by providing links to liner notes and discographies, as well as individualized e-mail updates on free tracks and music news.

Once in your personalized myplay locker, tracks can be organized into playlists and downloaded onto a portable digital player such as the Rio. You can also access the myplay site from any computer to stream tracks from your locker, or listen to one of any number of "public" playlists on the myplay site. Fans can even share their playlists with friends via e-mail ???? the digital version of the ever-popular "mix tape."

About myplay

Myplay was conceived by Camplejohn and Pakman, two avid music and technology enthusiasts. The two cofounders met several years ago at Apple Computer, Inc., where they were steeped in the "make it easy for the consumer" philosophy. Both were intrigued by the prospect of downloading music but frustrated by early attempts. Myplay was born out of two realizations. The first was that downloading music from the Internet is still a difficult user experience whether in MP3 or any other format. The second was the realization that with the growth of the Internet, applications once found on the local computer, such as e-mail and calendars, are moving to the Web and becoming services.

Launched in the fall of 1999, myplay ( www.myplay.com ) is the Web-based service that simplifies the digital music experience for the consumer. Myplay provides customers with a 'virtual locker' where they can store, share, organize and download their MP3 and other digital music files from anywhere in the world. The Company has received funding from respected venture capital firms IVP and Integral Capital Partners, and investment bank Allen & Company. Based in Redwood City, CA, with an office in New York City, myplay can be contacted by ...
